Welcome Cecilia Claire
Such a sad day yesterday. So much tragedy and loss and destruction. I only watched the news footage of the tornadoes in our neighboring Oklahoma for a second but it was enough to make my stomach ache. Unimaginable to send your child off to school, never to come home again. Amongst all of these tragedies, I find myself asking WHY? Life can be a brutal thing.
And then very first thing this morning, I receive news Cecilia Claire Leifer has finally made it into this world. I have been waiting and waiting to see a picture of this tiny soul I already know so well and she made it safe and sound. AND WITH HASTE. Leah left for the hospital at 2:09 a.m. and she was here by 2:36 a.m. Fine entrance, I say.
And I was reminded as I stared at those pouty new born lips and went through my morning routine with Betty, for all of the hard things and the sadness and the bad news, THERE IS SO MUCH GREATNESS. Brand new tiny babies and dancing 5 year olds in the outfield and wisteria blooming and cool May mornings.
My prayers this morning were from both ends of the spectrum. For those whose lives that ended and for mourning and healing and also for a new beginning, renewal and a brand new life.
Welcome Ceci Claire. You are a blessing. And thank you Betty Calvert for ALWAYS reminding me how precious this life is. You are my blessing.

Introducing Smiley The Batter.....
Well what sort of hilarious incident went down in our latest attempt at ATHLETICISM? How about this? After obviously becoming somewhat bored in the outfield (apparent by twirling and kicking and doing little jumps and staring up at the clouds), she throws her glove down and makes a heart with her hands and then shouts at her dad. Of course everyone finds this quite hilarious which encourages her to do it more. "HEY MOM (flashes the heart, laughter ensues, repeat)!!!" I will say she seems to like t-ball more than soccer and at least didn't wander over to the other team's bench. Although, she did have a long conversation with Coach's wife about her children's names and that she used to babysit my brother and I. Sigh. My little social butterfly. Love her to the moon and back and find this new adventure to be the MOST PRECIOUS thing I have witnessed in a long time.
SWING BATTA BATTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! SWING!
